According to the official, this agreement could pave the way for maintaining a temporary understanding that was at risk of collapse following recent retaliatory attacks.

Based on these statements, technical talks under the framework of a 14-point memorandum of understanding agreed upon on June 17 to reopen the Strait of Hormuz will continue. At the current stage, both sides have agreed on de-escalation, and ship movements through this strategic waterway are expected to proceed unimpeded. Axios reported that a new round of negotiations will take place in Qatar on Tuesday.

The talks were originally planned to be held in Switzerland focusing on Iran’s nuclear program, but with rising tensions, the venue and agenda changed, with the primary focus now on the situation in the Strait of Hormuz. Nick Stewart, head of the U.S. technical team, is expected to attend this meeting.

The return to diplomacy comes after a significant escalation starting Thursday, when an Iranian projectile struck a cargo ship in the Strait of Hormuz. Both parties accused each other of violating a temporary ceasefire. On Sunday morning, Iran launched missiles and drones toward U.S. military positions in Kuwait and Bahrain, an action taken following U.S. President Donald Trump’s warning about the consequences of non-compliance with the agreement.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps stated that these attacks were in response to what it called the United States’ violation of the ceasefire. A U.S. official confirmed that U.S. facilities were targeted. Kuwait and Bahrain have acknowledged these attacks.

Meanwhile, the U.S. military reported conducting strikes against targets in Iran after a tanker was damaged in the Strait of Hormuz. Trump had earlier posted on social media that if the tensions continued, tougher options would be on the table.

Qatar announced that one of its citizens died due to injuries from shrapnel hitting a ship. At the same time, Israel reported another attack on Hezbollah positions in Lebanon, stating that it targeted the group’s underground infrastructure. Iranian officials emphasized that ending the conflicts in Lebanon is also necessary for maintaining any broader agreement.

The Strait of Hormuz is one of the most critical energy transit routes in the world, and any tension in this area could have wide-ranging economic and security consequences for the region and beyond.

Iran and the US have agreed to halt hostilities and resume talks regarding the Strait of Hormuz after recent clashes in the Persian Gulf.

[17,6,16

post-16147","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-important-news","category-international","category-secondary-headline
["GET
