Hamid Karzai, the former president of Afghanistan, has condemned recent attacks by Pakistan on the provinces of Paktia, Paktika, and Kunar, describing them as a “violation of Afghanistan’s national sovereignty and contrary to international norms.” On Monday, 8th Saratan, in a message posted on the social media platform X, he urged Islamabad to end its confrontational policy and engage with Afghanistan based on principles of equality.<\/p>\n
Karzai emphasized that “Pakistan\u2019s interest lies in abandoning the continuation of a confrontational policy and double standards towards extremism.” He has previously accused Pakistan multiple times of supporting extremism within Afghanistan, stating that the current security issues in the country are the result of Islamabad\u2019s decades-long policy of instrumentalizing extremist groups.<\/p>\n
These remarks come as Pakistan announced last night that its attacks killed 25 members of the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). Pakistani officials stated that the operations were in response to an increase in security incidents, which they claim have averaged around 100 per month over the past three months.<\/p>\n
In contrast, Taliban administration officials assert that the Pakistani military targeted civilians\u2019 homes. Some released images from Paktia show several injured children.
