Mohajer Farahi, Deputy of Publications Affairs at the Taliban’s Ministry of Information and Culture, has announced that all publishers and printing presses must obtain an International Standard Book Number (ISBN) for their books. This decision was made during a coordination meeting held in Kabul with the participation of publishers, booksellers, and print shop officials.<\/p>\n
The meeting was organized by the Copyright Directorate of the Publications Affairs Deputy Office. Farahi also urged government agencies to sign contracts for producing and purchasing books with domestic publishers and asked publishers to print works that contribute to the intellectual and cultural development of society, especially young people. The meeting also covered the rights and responsibilities of authors, translators, and researchers, the importance of observing copyright laws from a religious perspective, book marketing, and publishing licenses.
