Fouad Hussein, Iraq\u2019s Foreign Minister, stated that his country does not support any military attacks or aggression against Iran and calls for an end to the war in the region. On Sunday, June 28, after meeting with Seyed Abbas Araghchi in Baghdad, he emphasized in a joint press conference that the continuation of conflicts will lead to further devastation in the region and must be stopped.<\/p>\n
The Iraqi Foreign Minister said the talks highlighted the necessity of reaching agreements between Iran and the United States. According to him, the Strait of Hormuz must be reopened, and the naval blockade against Iran should be lifted.<\/p>\n
He further added that both sides discussed relations with the Gulf countries and the expansion of economic cooperation in the region. Fouad Hussein stressed that the security of the region should be ensured by the people and governments of the region itself.<\/p>\n
The head of Iraq\u2019s diplomatic body announced that Baghdad is ready to host a meeting of the Gulf littoral states with the participation of Iran and Iraq. He mentioned that Iraq maintains good relations with both Iran and the United States and is prepared to cooperate to end the war and reduce tensions.<\/p>\n
According to him, Seyed Abbas Araghchi will hold intensive meetings with Iraqi officials during his visit to Baghdad, with the negotiations between both parties continuing throughout the day.
