On Friday, June 25, UNDP posted on its X page that through ongoing programs, it is striving to create more economic opportunities for private sector growth.

UNDP emphasized that small and medium enterprises are the backbone of the economy and play a vital role in job creation. According to the organization, strengthening this sector can improve citizens’ livelihoods and steer the economy toward sustainability.

This comes amid rising unemployment and serious economic hardships for many residents following the Taliban’s reestablishment of control over Afghanistan. The reduction in job opportunities and recession in many productive sectors have placed significant pressure on families.

Restrictions imposed by the Taliban administration, particularly regarding women’s work and activities, are also considered factors contributing to the weakening of family economies. Economic experts have repeatedly warned that excluding women from the labor market limits economic growth capacity and hinders the formation of an inclusive economy.

The United Nations Development Programme added that its efforts to build a sustainable and inclusive economy in Afghanistan will continue, with a focus on expanding real opportunities for the private sector.

UNDP renews commitment to empower small Afghan businesses, supporting sustainable economic growth and job creation amid rising unemployment and restrictions.

[7,17,16

post-15978","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-business","category-important-news","category-secondary-headline
["GET
