According to him, the United States and European countries have not engaged in any dialogue regarding the release of these funds.

In an interview with the Russian newspaper Izvestia, Kabulov emphasized that these assets are frozen by the US and Europe, and the responsibility for deciding their release lies with these countries. He added that Russia and members of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization had no role in freezing these funds, and therefore questions about their fate should be directed to Washington and European capitals.

Following the events of 2021 and the fall of the previous government, nearly $9 billion of Afghanistan’s central bank assets held abroad were frozen. This action occurred after the Taliban regained control of Kabul and has had extensive economic consequences on the banking system and the livelihood of Afghan citizens.

According to available information, $3.5 billion of these assets were transferred to a trust fund in Switzerland, to which the Taliban administration has no access. Another portion of the assets remains in uncertain status due to legal cases in the US, especially lawsuits filed by families of victims of the September 11 attacks.

The Taliban administration has repeatedly demanded the release of these assets. Meanwhile, some observers stress that transparency in the central bank’s management and providing clear guarantees about how these funds will be used are important issues raised in international discussions surrounding the release of these assets.

Russia says joint efforts with the Taliban to free Afghanistan’s frozen assets have failed; US and Europe hold responsibility for decisions on the funds.

[7,17

post-15942","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-business","category-important-news
["GET
