Senior officials from Pakistan and Russia focused on regional security threats, especially those originating from Afghanistan, during the twelfth meeting of the Joint Working Group on Counterterrorism held in Islamabad. The Pakistani delegation was headed by Muhammad Khalid Khan Jamali, Pakistan’s Deputy Foreign Minister, while the Russian delegation was led by Dmitry Lyubinsky, Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister. According to Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry, the majority of the talks were dedicated to examining regional terrorism threats and assessing the level of bilateral cooperation in this field.<\/p>\n
During the meeting, both countries also explored ways to expand cooperation within the frameworks of regional and international organizations, especially the United Nations and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, emphasizing the need to strengthen coordination to counter terrorism.<\/p>\n
