Representatives from Iran and the United States, accompanied by mediators from Qatar and Pakistan, have commenced a four-party meeting in the Burgenshtock area near Lucerne, Switzerland. The talks aim to reduce tensions and address several disputed issues between the two countries.<\/p>\n
According to international media citing diplomatic sources, the meeting involves direct participation of delegations from Tehran and Washington alongside representatives of the two mediating countries. The Axios website, quoting a knowledgeable diplomatic source, has confirmed that the Lucerne negotiations have officially begun, with Qatar and Pakistan acting as facilitators.<\/p>\n
Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Pakistan’s Foreign Minister, earlier told Al Hadath network that Islamabad has played an effective role in encouraging Iran and the US to start talks and move towards a ceasefire. He noted that this is the first time in 47 years the two sides have come this close, a process pursued with the cooperation of Pakistan’s partners and allies.<\/p>\n
The Pakistani Foreign Minister added that three technical teams are working within the framework of these negotiations, with specialized committees discussing topics such as the nuclear issue, frozen assets, and the situation in Lebanon. He also stated that no tariffs will be imposed on ship passages through the Strait of Hormuz for a 60-day period.<\/p>\n
He further mentioned that China supports the free passage of ships through the Strait of Hormuz without levying fees. Currently, ship traffic is flowing in both directions along this strategic waterway.
