The Financial Times, citing a political source, has reported that mediators attending the Switzerland meeting are prioritizing the oversight mechanism for the peace process in Lebanon during their discussions. According to the report, monitoring and following up on developments on the ground in Lebanon will be the main focus of consultations between the mediation parties.<\/p>\n
Following this, the Strait of Hormuz and Iran\u2019s nuclear program are also on the agenda. The Financial Times wrote that these issues will be addressed after the Lebanon dossier has been reviewed by participants.<\/p>\n
Earlier, an Iranian official stated that ending the conflicts in Lebanon is the most important priority for the Iranian delegation in these talks. This statement indicates that Lebanon currently holds special importance for Tehran.<\/p>\n
The Islamic Republic of Iran’s delegation, led by Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, arrived in Zurich on Saturday evening local time to participate in the Burg Enthoch meetings regarding the implementation of the memorandum of understanding between Tehran and Washington. The delegation includes several senior political, economic, and diplomatic figures, among them the Foreign Minister, the International Deputy of the Supreme National Security Council Secretariat, the Governor of the Central Bank, and some deputy ministers.<\/p>\n
Simultaneously, U.S. officials have also arrived in Switzerland to participate in the consultations. Steve Witkoff, the Special Envoy of the U.S. President, and Jared Kushner are reported to be among the attendees of these negotiations.<\/p>\n
Alongside the two main parties, representatives of the mediator countries are also present in Switzerland. The Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Qatar held talks with the Swiss Foreign Minister about the latest developments related to the Tehran-Washington agreement prior to the official start of the meetings.
