The meeting took place on Friday, June 19, and was also attended by senior Shia elders.

According to a statement from the Taliban governor’s office in Bamyan, both parties discussed ways to reduce tensions in the Hazara regions, particularly in the Punjab district. The statement quoted Gul Haider Shafaq saying that the handling of cases related to settled residents and Kuchis would be based on “impartiality, ensuring social justice, and adherence to credible religious documents.”

This comes amid a long-standing legal and social challenge over pastures and grazing lands in central Afghanistan. Every spring, the migration of Kuchis with their livestock to these areas sparks tensions and conflicts with the local settled residents, an issue that has repeatedly resulted in casualties and property damage.

Previously, the Taliban’s Ministry of Borders, Tribes, and Ethnicities confirmed clashes between Bamyan residents and Kuchis in the Punjab district and stated that the dispute over grazing lands had been resolved. According to the ministry, two people were injured in the recent clashes.

Despite official statements, local residents continuously call for transparent, fair, and lasting resolutions to these disputes, as the ongoing tensions indicate that temporary measures have so far failed to fundamentally address the roots of these historical disagreements.

Afghan officials urge dialogue to resolve ongoing disputes between settled residents and nomadic Kuchis in Bamyan’s Punjab district.

[17,8

post-15578","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-important-news","category-social-affairs
["GET
