According to the directorate, the cost of these projects amounted to nine million Afghanis, funded by the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).

The Taliban-controlled Bakhtar News Agency reported on Wednesday, June 17th, that the water supply systems were constructed in the villages of Kanger and Adizi in the Maroof district. Upon completion, these projects have provided access to safe drinking water for 147 families.

The lack of safe drinking water remains a serious challenge in many rural and remote areas of Afghanistan, a problem that has made life difficult for residents of these regions for years. Development experts have repeatedly emphasized that sustainable investment in water infrastructure is essential to reduce waterborne diseases and improve public health.

UNICEF has previously stated that access to safe drinking water is one of the most fundamental needs for vulnerable families in Afghanistan. Despite the implementation of such projects, it is expected that the Taliban administration will undertake more comprehensive programs to address the ongoing water scarcity crisis in other districts and provinces, as the needs in this sector remain widespread and urgent.

Two water supply networks were completed in Kandahar’s Maroof district, providing safe drinking water to 147 families through UNICEF funding.

[17,8

post-15502","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-important-news","category-social-affairs
["GET
