The agency warns that hundreds of thousands of people in the country are currently facing severe hunger and poverty.

In a recent report by this United Nations agency, natural disasters, reduced humanitarian aid budgets, and regional restrictions have worsened the food situation in Afghanistan. According to the report, the continuation of these conditions could severely challenge vulnerable groups’ access to essential food, especially children.

The report states that one food aid shipment containing hundreds of tons of food supplies from Indonesia for Afghan students was initially transported by sea to Pakistan; however, with border closures, the route was changed multiple times. The shipment was then transferred to Dubai and continued its journey through a new land corridor crossing several countries in the Middle East, the Caucasus, and Central Asia—a route that added more than 8,000 kilometers to the original distance.

The WFP added that relief convoys faced long delays, security inspections, and customs procedures at seven borders during this process but ultimately succeeded in delivering aid to Kabul and then to various provinces. The agency emphasized that for many children in Afghanistan, the fortified biscuits distributed in schools are sometimes their only daily food.

The report concludes with a quote from one of the organization’s officials: “Hunger does not wait for borders to open.” Despite existing obstacles, the WFP has assured that the delivery of aid will continue.

The World Food Programme warns that delivering food aid to Afghanistan is increasingly complex due to border closures and regional instability.

[17,8,3

post-15131","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-important-news","category-social-affairs","category-top-news
["GET
