Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam has acknowledged that his country is influenced by the Islamabad negotiation process and stated that Lebanon would also benefit if a ceasefire and peace are achieved in the region. These remarks come as Lebanese officials had previously denied any direct link between Lebanon’s security situation and these talks.<\/p>\n
In an interview with Reuters, Salam said Lebanon is naturally affected by regional diplomatic developments. He emphasized that if these negotiations lead to reduced tensions and the establishment of a ceasefire, Lebanon would see positive outcomes as well.<\/p>\n
Earlier, some Lebanese government officials had stated that the decrease in attacks by the Israeli regime on various parts of Lebanon, including southern Dahieh and Beirut, was not a direct result of the Islamabad talks or Tehran’s pressure on the American and Israeli sides. However, the new statements by the Prime Minister indicate that Beirut is closely monitoring the developments of this process.<\/p>\n
The Lebanese Prime Minister also emphasized that his country insists on maintaining its independent stance in any negotiation process and does not want another country to represent it in talks.<\/p>\n
In recent months, Lebanon has faced serious security and political challenges. Alongside continued Israeli regime attacks, the disarmament of Hezbollah has become one of the main focuses of external pressures. Lebanese officials have said they remain in constant contact with Hezbollah on this matter and have urged the group to abide by its commitments.<\/p>\n
