Pakistani officials reported that at least 10 people were killed and 13 others injured after a bus carrying tourists overturned and caught fire on the Islamabad-Murree highway. The incident occurred in the Khajoot area along the Murree route.<\/p>\n
According to the Daily Dawn, the bus was transporting 23 members of a family from the city of Multan who had traveled to Murree for leisure. Murree is a popular tourist destination in Punjab province, attracting thousands of domestic travelers every year.<\/p>\n
Agha Zaheer Abbas Shirazi, the Deputy Commissioner of Murree, stated that the bus was moving at high speed and crashed into a roadside wall. He added that after the collision, the bus caught fire and its gate was locked, trapping some passengers inside.<\/p>\n
A highway police spokesperson further explained that the bus veered off the road while navigating a bend and fell into a ravine. Among the victims, 10 were children.<\/p>\n
Rescue teams, highway police, and forest department personnel participated in the rescue operation. The injured and the bodies of the victims were transported to nearby hospitals as well as the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) hospital in Islamabad.<\/p>\n
Officials at PIMS stated that 10 injured individuals were admitted, with two in critical condition.<\/p>\n
Pakistani authorities have launched investigations to determine the cause of the fire and how the accident occurred.
