Pakistan’s Information Minister has confirmed that the country’s military conducted airstrikes in Afghanistan early this morning, targeting hideouts of the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). In a statement, Attallah Tarrar said the operations were carried out in response to several terrorist attacks within Pakistan, resulting in the deaths of 26 TTP members.<\/p>\n
He added that the strikes were based on “precise intelligence” and carried out in a “targeted” manner as part of Pakistan’s counter-terrorism strategy under the framework called “Determined Resolve.” Tarrar emphasized that this policy will continue with full intensity.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, the Taliban administration earlier reported that Pakistan’s airstrikes in the provinces of Kunar, Khost, and Paktika killed 13 civilians, including 11 children, one woman, and one elderly man, with 14 others wounded.<\/p>\n
Since the Taliban’s return to power in 2021, Pakistan has repeatedly bombed targets inside Afghanistan, claiming these operations are aimed at TTP members and infrastructure as well as the Baloch Liberation Army.<\/p>\n
However, reports from international organizations and human rights groups have indicated civilian casualties in some of these strikes, raising concerns about the humanitarian consequences of these cross-border conflicts.
