The Taliban\u2019s Ministry of Mines and Petroleum has announced that an Uzbek company has expressed interest in investing in Afghanistan\u2019s chromite and lead mines, as well as establishing a standard mineral processing plant in the country.<\/p>\n
According to the ministry\u2019s statement, Abdul Rahman Qanit, Deputy for Policy and Programs, met with Bahadur Tashmanov, Deputy Ambassador of Uzbekistan, Akram Qalandarov, head of the “Timursna” company, and their Afghan partners. The meeting focused on expanding and strengthening bilateral cooperation, especially regarding investment in Afghanistan\u2019s mineral resources.<\/p>\n
The statement also noted that the Uzbek Deputy Ambassador and the head of the company described the Taliban administration\u2019s progress in various sectors as noteworthy. However, no specific details of these developments were provided.<\/p>\n
During the meeting, Akram Qalandarov expressed his interest in investing in chromite and lead mines and in establishing a standard facility for mineral processing within Afghanistan. If realized, this initiative could contribute to completing part of the value chain for raw materials domestically.<\/p>\n
Abdul Rahman Qanit welcomed this expressed interest and requested the Uzbek company to submit detailed and proposed plans related to mining extraction projects. He also pledged that the ministry would provide necessary facilitation to attract foreign investors.<\/p>\n
