The Taliban’s Disaster Management Authority has announced that since the 6th of Hamal, 1405, more than 300 people have lost their lives and 385 others have been injured due to natural events across various parts of the country. According to the authority, during this period, 18,812 families throughout Afghanistan have been affected.<\/p>\n
Hafiz Mohammad Yousuf Hamad, Head of Information and Publications at the authority, stated that nearly two thousand residential houses have been completely destroyed, and over seven thousand others partially damaged. Additionally, 294 shops have been completely damaged, and 307 other shops partially destroyed.<\/p>\n
He added that heavy rains, floods, and other natural events have also damaged 57 culverts, 43 mosques, 382 wells and water supply networks, as well as 580 kilometers of roads. These damages have disrupted transportation and residents’ access to essential services.<\/p>\n
The authority further reported that crops from 25,988 jeribs of agricultural land and products from 4,324 jeribs of orchards have been lost, 55,818 trees have been destroyed, and 4,630 solar panels damaged. Moreover, 1,713 heads of livestock have died, causing significant economic losses to farming families.<\/p>\n
The Disaster Management Authority stated that under the leadership of Mullah Nooruddin Turabi, its Director General, staff arrived in the affected areas within hours after the incidents and, alongside surveying, coordinated with partner organizations to distribute food, non-food items, and cash assistance.<\/p>\n
However, the repeated widespread flooding and heavy damages in recent years raise questions about preparedness, preventive programs, and infrastructure management against natural disasters. This issue requires serious attention and fundamental actions to reduce the vulnerability of residents in various provinces.<\/p>\n
The authority has urged citizens to avoid approaching rivers, valleys, and other high-risk areas during rainfalls and flood events, and to take meteorological warnings and official announcements seriously.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
