Since the beginning of the 1405 solar financial year, a total of 19,846 carats of emeralds worth over 424,000 US dollars have been sold through official auctions.

According to these officials, approximately 600 mining sites have been identified in Panjshir, and 17 types of minerals and precious and semi-precious stones, including emeralds, gold, and lapis lazuli, are registered among the province’s resources.

They also stated that nearly 15,000 people are employed in activities related to mining extraction and processing. The development of this sector could provide opportunities for local economic growth and self-sufficiency for residents.

Panjshir has historically been recognized as one of Afghanistan’s most significant sources of emeralds. However, transparency in the extraction process and the allocation of mining revenues have remained key demands of the local population. While the Taliban administration currently manages these resources, experts emphasize the need for strict oversight and guarantees that the local communities receive their fair share of mining income.

Panjshir’s emerald sales reach $424,000 as mining expands, with 19,846 carats sold and calls for transparent revenue management under Taliban rule.

[7

post-14681","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-business
["GET
