The Polio Eradication Program has announced that the construction of a 30-bed health center, funded with one million US dollars, is underway in Maroof district of Kandahar province. This project is financially supported by the Polio Legacy Challenge organization and is expected to be operational within one year.<\/p>\n
According to a newsletter published on Saturday, June 6, the hospital will provide health services in intensive care, maternity, maternal and child health, dentistry, ophthalmology, nutrition, and vaccination. The aim of establishing this center is to improve access for residents of Maroof district and neighboring areas to primary healthcare services.<\/p>\n
Officials from the program stated that the newly established center will be equipped with advanced facilities including a blood bank, X-ray machine, and ultrasound device. They added that providing such amenities can meet some of the medical needs of the people in the district locally and reduce the need for patients to travel to distant hospitals.<\/p>\n
The Polio Legacy Challenge is an international initiative supported by several governments and created under the framework of the Global Polio Eradication Program.
