The agency states that the energy crisis, alongside climate change, represents one of the country’s most serious development challenges.

According to the report, since 2021, more than six thousand solar systems have been installed across various parts of Afghanistan. These systems provide reliable electricity to over 5,420 healthcare centers, 800 schools, and 850 businesses, benefiting more than 1.87 million people, 61 percent of whom are women.

The report also highlights the extensive impacts of climate change, noting that since 1950, Afghanistan has experienced a temperature increase of approximately 1.8 degrees Celsius. The UNDP explains that this rise has contributed to exacerbated floods, droughts, and other natural disasters.

The United Nations Development Programme emphasizes that the energy crisis and climate change have now become two fundamental obstacles to Afghanistan’s development. Addressing these challenges effectively requires sustained support and continuous investment.

UNDP reports only 33% of Afghanistan’s population has electricity access; energy crisis and climate change pose major development challenges.

[7,17

post-14525","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-business","category-important-news
["GET
