Taliban-affiliated media have announced the inauguration of a mosque costing 25 million Afghanis in the Novin village of Injil district, Herat province. According to Bakhtar News Agency, the mosque is built on a 4,500 square meter plot and can accommodate 2,000 worshippers.<\/p>\n
The construction process reportedly took around two years. However, the Taliban administration has not provided any explanation regarding the funding of this 25 million Afghani project, and the source of the finance remains unclear.<\/p>\n
Over the past five years, the Taliban authorities have concentrated heavily on building mosques and religious schools across various parts of the country. Hibatullah Akhundzada, the group’s leader, had ordered the construction of dozens of mosques along highways two years ago.<\/p>\n
This development comes as Afghanistan\u2019s highways and roads face serious safety challenges due to decades of war and neglect of infrastructure development, resulting in numerous traffic accidents annually.
