The Ministry of Industry and Commerce announced that Nooruddin Azizi, the minister of this ministry under the Taliban administration, participated online in the second Termez Dialogue on connectivity between Central and South Asia and emphasized Afghanistan’s position as a bridge linking the two regions.<\/p>\n
According to the ministry’s newsletter, the meeting, titled “Peace, Connectivity, and Sustainability; Shaping the Foundations of Shared Prosperity,” was attended by senior officials from regional countries, representatives of the United Nations, the European Union, and several regional organizations. The main focus of the dialogue was on expanding political dialogue and strengthening economic connectivity as the basis for sustainable development.<\/p>\n
In his speech, Azizi presented Afghanistan’s viewpoint on developing regional economic cooperation, facilitating trade, and utilizing the country’s transit capacities. He stated that Afghanistan’s geographical location provides a unique opportunity to connect Central and South Asia and can act as a linkage between the two economic zones.<\/p>\n
The Minister of Industry and Commerce also described the “Afghan-Trans” project as one of the key regional connectivity initiatives and added that this project can play an important role in linking railway lines between the two regions, boosting trade, facilitating transit, and expanding economic cooperation. Transit projects have long been considered one of Afghanistan\u2019s important economic capacities, but their realization requires stability, regional interaction, and effective management.<\/p>\n
He further emphasized that shared economic interests could pave the way for lasting peace, mutual trust, and stability in the region. However, experts consistently believe that realizing these goals requires, besides presenting visions, practical actions, transparency, and creating a suitable environment for investment.<\/p>\n
Representatives from Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, India, and Bangladesh also attended the dialogue and stressed expanding economic cooperation and establishing new trade routes in the region.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
