The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) announced that a UN delegation traveled to Bamyan province to closely assess the development status and local service delivery in the region. This visit focused on evaluating the progress in improving residents’ living conditions and the role of local communities in sustainable development. <\/p>\n
On Thursday, June 1, the UNDP stated on its X (formerly Twitter) page that the primary focus of the trip was to review efforts in livelihoods, women’s empowerment, health services, food security, and the preservation of cultural heritage. According to UNDP, strengthening local capacities and supporting community-based programs are among the key objectives of this mission.<\/p>\n
In recent years, Bamyan has faced economic challenges, limited access to essential services, and a shortage of job opportunities. Following the Taliban’s takeover, restrictions\u2014particularly on women’s employment and social presence\u2014have increased, impacting development and economic participation in the province.<\/p>\n
Despite these challenges, Bamyan is recognized as one of Afghanistan’s provinces with significant potential in tourism, culture, and historical heritage.
