\u00c9l\u00e9onore Caroit, France\u2019s Minister Delegate for International Partnerships, also described defending women\u2019s rights globally as a shared responsibility. She identified the situation of Afghan women and girls as one of the most prominent examples of the women\u2019s rights crisis amid war and instability.<\/p>\n
Fawzia Koofi, former Deputy Speaker of the Afghan House of Representatives, warned in her remarks that the appeasement policies of some countries towards the Taliban administration have facilitated increased repression. She emphasized that European countries must not legitimize policies that violate fundamental women\u2019s rights under the pretext of deporting migrants.<\/p>\n
In other parts of the meeting, participants discussed the consequences of humanitarian aid, the role of women in the peacebuilding process, and the future of democracy in Afghanistan.
