According to a report published on the embassy’s X page, Maulvi Gul Hassan Hassan, the Taliban-appointed ambassador in Moscow, met with these athletes in his office. The sports delegation, led by Maulvi Ahmadullah Wathiq, the general director of the Taliban’s Olympic, Physical Education, and Sports Department, had traveled to Russia to attend the global forum.<\/p>\n
During the meeting, the Afghan ambassador in Moscow expressed appreciation for the athletes\u2019 presence and representation at an international event, describing sports as a means to bring nations closer together and to present a positive image of the country.<\/p>\n
