Following a deadly earthquake in northern Afghanistan, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi expressed his country’s readiness to deliver immediate humanitarian aid to the affected areas.<\/p>\n
In a message posted on X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday, Araghchi conveyed his condolences to the people of Afghanistan, stating that he was “deeply saddened and affected” by the casualties and destruction caused by the recent quake. He offered sympathies to the families of the victims and wished a swift recovery for the injured.<\/p>\n
The Iranian official emphasized that Tehran is prepared to promptly provide emergency humanitarian and relief assistance to the victims in northern Afghanistan, provided there is a framework for cooperation.<\/p>\n
The earthquake struck several districts in northern Afghanistan around 1 a.m. on Sunday. According to reports, at least 27 people were killed and over 900 others injured.<\/p>\n
Despite urgent calls from both domestic and international aid agencies for immediate response, the Taliban administration has yet to show effective action in managing relief efforts and meeting the victims’ urgent needs.
