At least nine people were killed and six others injured after a van-type vehicle overturned in Shinwari district of Parwan province. The Taliban’s Accident Prevention Department announced on Tuesday that the incident occurred early that same day.<\/p>\n
According to the information provided, the vehicle was traveling from Astana Valley towards the main Ghorband road when it veered off the road and overturned. The spokesman for the department stated that the injured were transferred to Parwan provincial hospital for medical treatment.<\/p>\n
Taliban officials said the victims were residents of Shinwari district. No further details regarding the exact cause of the accident have been released yet.<\/p>\n
This incident comes amid a recent surge in traffic accidents across several provinces, particularly during the Eid al-Adha holiday. In Herat province alone, at least 280 traffic incidents were recorded during the Eid days, with provincial hospital officials reporting that between 60 to 80 injured people, mostly young men, were admitted daily to the treatment center.<\/p>\n
Taliban authorities also reported that during Eid al-Adha, 78 traffic accidents occurred in Balkh, Paktia, and Ghazni provinces, resulting in at least 10 deaths and 74 injuries.<\/p>\n
