As peace negotiations in Ukraine reach a deadlock and fighting intensifies, a spokesperson for the Russian presidency stated that the war could “end within 24 hours” provided Kyiv withdraws its forces from the Donbas region. Dmitry Peskov said that if Volodymyr Zelensky orders Ukrainian troops to leave what he referred to as “Russian territories,” the conditions would be set for an immediate ceasefire.<\/p>\n
Peskov emphasized that Moscow remains ready to negotiate with Ukraine and is in contact with the United States, which is acting as a mediator. However, he claimed that if Kyiv refuses “genuine peace talks and serious decisions,” the war will continue.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, a spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry previously declared that recognizing Russia’s ownership of Crimea, the Donetsk and Luhansk regions in Donbas, and the southern and eastern areas of Ukraine, which Moscow calls “Novorossiya,” is a fundamental condition for ending the crisis.<\/p>\n
These remarks come amid mutual accusations between the two sides of targeting civilian areas. Zelensky has stated that recent Russian attacks have hit residential buildings and civilian infrastructure, but Peskov insisted that the strikes targeted military infrastructure.<\/p>\n
The Ukrainian Air Force reported that Russia launched attacks last night using 73 missiles and 656 drones against Kyiv and other locations across the country.
