Mawlawi Abdulhai Zaeem, the head of this directorate in western Ghor, has urged local residents to cooperate with officials in preserving and protecting these sites.<\/p>\n<p>During a visit to the ancient site of Deh-e Menar and several other historical locations in Dawlatyar, Zaeem emphasized that safeguarding cultural heritage is a collective responsibility. He stated that historical monuments represent the country&#8217;s identity throughout various periods of history, and their destruction causes irreparable damage to the national heritage.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, the Ministry of Information and Culture under the Taliban administration, based on the group&#8217;s leadership directive, has initiated programs to protect historical buildings and sites nationwide. However, reports of illegal excavations and smuggling of historical artifacts from some provinces have emerged in recent years, raising concerns about the level of oversight and practical enforcement of these directives.<\/p>\n<p>Ghor Province, due to its geographical location and historical background, is regarded as one of the regions with significant archaeological sites.
