The dialogue, which also includes Afghanistan, began in April of this year.

Mohammad Sadiq, Pakistan’s Special Representative, described the meeting as “broad and serious,” stating that the main focus was on regional security threats. According to him, both sides agreed to coordinate and expand counterterrorism cooperation to maintain peace and stability.

Sadiq also held separate meetings with Eric Cortzel, Head of the Asia-Pacific Division of the European Union’s External Action Service, and Gilles Bertrand, the EU Special Representative for Afghanistan, to discuss political and security developments in the region. He emphasized that these meetings addressed threats posed by groups such as Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan and the Baloch Liberation Army, highlighting the need for coordinated engagement.

Pakistani officials have repeatedly claimed that some attacks within Pakistan are organized from Afghan soil. Meanwhile, the Taliban administration denies these allegations and rejects any Afghan involvement in Pakistan’s insecurity. Nonetheless, the persistence of these accusations underscores the ongoing challenge posed by the lack of transparent and accountable mechanisms in managing border security between the two countries.

China and Pakistan discuss regional security and Urumqi talks, focusing on counterterrorism and challenges with border security and militant threats.

[17,4

post-14247","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-important-news","category-politics
["GET
