The Department of Urban Development and Housing in Nangarhar province has announced that the process of distributing land plots to Afghan returnees from Pakistan has resumed. So far, land has been allocated to 8,920 families across three townships.<\/p>\n
Officials from the department say that to facilitate the distribution process, administrative procedures have been simplified and accelerated, with ongoing efforts to provide further conveniences to these families. They also stated that basic infrastructure development in residential areas is included in the work plan.<\/p>\n
Nangarhar, an eastern province of Afghanistan, has long been a primary route for the return of refugees from Pakistan. The recent increase in the returnee influx has heightened the demand for shelter and essential services in the province.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, some urban affairs experts emphasize that merely distributing land without providing infrastructure such as water, electricity, schools, and health centers cannot meet the fundamental needs of the returnees.
