The bridge is part of a key route connecting Badghis and Maimana provinces, but had become worn down and unusable due to previous negligence and lack of regular maintenance.

According to local sources, the project is being funded with a budget exceeding 3.7 million Afghanis and is being carried out by a private company. The reconstruction is expected to be completed within approximately three and a half months.

At a ceremony marking the start of the project, Mawlawi Hamidullah Danish, head of the Taliban administration’s Department of Public Works in Faryab, participated alongside other officials from the same department. However, concerns have been raised over a lack of transparency in the contracting process and public reporting, casting doubt over how the funds will be managed.

Local residents have expressed hope that the completion of the bridge will ease daily travel difficulties and facilitate the transportation of commercial goods and agricultural products in the area. Still, some residents voiced skepticism over the quality of reconstruction projects overseen by the Taliban administration.

In recent years, the destruction of numerous bridges and infrastructure projects—often due to the absence of public and technical oversight—has fueled increased public demand for accountability and transparency.
