Juliet Lamont, an Australian documentary filmmaker and member of the Samoud fleet, has alleged that she was sexually assaulted by an Israeli soldier during her detention by the Israeli military in May. In a recent interview, she shared details of the incident.<\/p>\n
Lamont told the “Double Down News” podcast that while handcuffed and shackled, she was sexually assaulted inside a dark container by an Israeli soldier. She recounted the experience with tears in her eyes and said the incident occurred during the seizure of the Samoud fleet.<\/p>\n
The Samoud fleet had set out about two weeks ago with the aim of delivering medicine and food to Gaza but was intercepted by the Israeli military, and its members were detained. Following this, images showing harsh and humiliating treatment of activists from the fleet were released, triggering widespread international reactions.<\/p>\n
According to reports, several European capitals summoned Israeli ambassadors or charg\u00e9s d’affaires in response to the images. It has also been reported that Itamar Ben-Gvir, Israel’s Minister of Internal Security, was involved in handling the detainees.<\/p>\n
In addition to the sexual assault allegation, Lamont reported instances of water torture, beatings, and the use of electric shocks against the detained activists.
