The death toll has risen to 20 following the overturn of a truck carrying migrants returning from Pakistan in Laghman province. Additionally, 33 people have been injured. The Accident Investigation Department under the Taliban administration reported that the incident occurred early Saturday morning, on the 9th of Jowza, in the Qarghayi district.<\/p>\n
Local Taliban officials in Laghman stated that the accident happened around 5:30 a.m. The injured were transferred to the Nangarhar regional hospital for treatment, with some reported to be in critical condition.<\/p>\n
Younus Yousufzai, spokesperson for the Taliban police command in Laghman, confirmed that all injured individuals are currently receiving medical care. He did not provide further details regarding the cause of the accident.<\/p>\n
The Accident Investigation Department added that a total of 730,000 Afghanis in cash assistance has been allocated to the families of the victims. However, no clear information has been released about the distribution of this aid or long-term support for the survivors.<\/p>\n
Earlier, Bakhtar News Agency reported the death toll as 18 and the injured as 29; however, the updated figures indicate an increase in casualties. Photos from the scene show the overturned truck by the roadside with victims’ bodies lying nearby.<\/p>\n
