Israel’s representative to the United Nations has announced that, in response to the UN’s decision to add Israeli entities to its sexual violence blacklist related to conflicts, Israel will cease cooperation with the UN Secretary-General’s office.<\/p>\n
According to international media reports, the United Nations included the Israeli Prison Service in its 2026 blacklist of entities accused of committing sexual violence in conflict zones. Additionally, some other Israeli officials are under review within this framework for possible future inclusion.<\/p>\n
Danny Danon, Israel’s ambassador to the UN, condemned this action, stating that placing Israel alongside groups like ISIS constitutes a “moral disgrace” and signifies a loss of credibility for the United Nations. He emphasized that for this reason, cooperation with Antonio Guterres’ office will be halted.<\/p>\n
Conversely, reports gathered by human rights organizations indicate that since the outbreak of the war in Gaza, incidents of sexual violence attributed to Israeli soldiers and settlers have increased. These organizations have also expressed concern over sexual abuse and harassment of prisoners in certain Israeli prisons and have called for transparent investigation and accountability.<\/p>\n
