Following an increase in Hezbollah’s drone attacks on Israeli positions, Israeli sources have reported the possibility of launching a large-scale military operation against broader areas in Lebanon. According to these sources, the Israeli army is reviewing a plan called “Fire Arrows,” which could expand the scope of conflict to much wider parts of Lebanese territory.<\/p>\n
In recent months, Lebanon’s Hezbollah has carried out targeted attacks on Israeli military positions using suicide micro-drones equipped with fiber-optic (FPV) guidance systems. These drones are difficult to track due to their guidance technology and have reportedly caused significant damage to Israeli forces.<\/p>\n
In response to this situation, Israel’s security cabinet held an emergency meeting yesterday. In this session, Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich and Interior Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir proposed bombing Lebanon’s electrical infrastructure and some buildings in Beirut as retaliation for the drone attacks.<\/p>\n
Smotrich also suggested that for every drone attack, ten buildings in Beirut should be completely destroyed; a proposal that could have extensive humanitarian and political consequences. Given the dense population in Lebanon’s capital, any expansion of attacks to urban areas is likely to increase civilian casualties and worsen the regional crisis.<\/p>\n
