A shipment weighing 320 tons of humanitarian aid from Uzbekistan was delivered to local officials in Balkh province via the Hairatan port. The handover ceremony was attended by Taliban administration officials in Balkh and a delegation from Uzbekistan.<\/p>\n
At the ceremony, Mawlawi Noorulhadi Abu Idris, Deputy Governor of Balkh under the Taliban administration, expressed gratitude for Uzbekistan’s ongoing humanitarian cooperation, describing it as a reflection of the neighboring relations between the two countries. He added that following recent floods in northern provinces, many residents have suffered financial losses, and with Eid al-Adha approaching, the needs of affected families have increased.<\/p>\n
He noted that the large-scale return of Afghan refugees from neighboring countries has further strained available resources and increased the need for humanitarian assistance. The Deputy Governor of Balkh emphasized that the aid must be distributed transparently and systematically to deserving families, especially those affected in Balkh and other northern provinces, a concern that citizens have consistently raised regarding aid distribution processes.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Ismatullah Irgashov, Uzbekistan’s special representative for Afghan affairs, stated that the shipment includes ten types of food items. According to him, the aid consists of 96 tons of flour, 22 tons of rice, 10,000 cans of canned meat, 15,000 liters of sunflower oil, 22 tons of macaroni, 41,220 packets of various biscuits, 3 tons of biscuits, 22 tons of sugar, and 22 tons of chickpeas.<\/p>\n
Irgashov added that the aid was sent on the occasion of Eid al-Adha under the direction of Shavkat Mirziyoyev, President of Uzbekistan. He emphasized that Uzbekistan supports Afghanistan\u2019s stability and prosperity and considers the continuation of humanitarian aid and economic cooperation part of its human and Islamic responsibilities.<\/p>\n
