Authorities in Balkh province have announced the arrival of a 320-ton shipment of humanitarian aid from the Republic of Uzbekistan ahead of Eid al-Adha. The aid consignment entered the province via Hairatan port and has been handed over to local officials. The shipment includes ten types of food items such as flour, rice, oil, sugar, chickpeas, pasta, canned beef, and various biscuits.<\/p>\n
The Media and Information Center of Balkh\u2019s provincial office stated that the handover ceremony was attended by Noorulhadi Abwadaris, Deputy Governor of Balkh, Ismatullah Irgashov, the Special Representative of the Uzbek President for Afghan Affairs, Ulg’bek Qosimov, Governor of Uzbekistan\u2019s Surxondaryo province, and several officials from both sides.<\/p>\n
During the ceremony, the Deputy Governor of Balkh expressed gratitude for the aid, describing it as a sign of good neighborly relations between Kabul and Tashkent. He emphasized the aid\u2019s particular significance given the current sensitive conditions, especially following recent floods in some northern provinces. He also noted that the increased return of refugees has raised the level of family needs.<\/p>\n
He added that the distribution process will be conducted transparently, ensuring that those truly in need, especially in Balkh and other northern areas, benefit from the aid.
