The Taliban’s Department of Information and Culture has announced the distribution of thousands of printed copies of messages from Hibatullah Akhundzada, the Taliban leader, to both civilian and military offices as well as among the general public. The department also stated that during a meeting with local media officials and journalists, emphasis was placed on adhering to the directives of the Taliban leader in broadcast programs.<\/p>\n
According to a statement posted on the department\u2019s X page, the media have been requested to refrain from publishing content that, according to them, \u201cmisleads the community.\u201d It further stated that media officials have pledged to produce and broadcast awareness programs concerning the orders of Hibatullah Akhundzada.<\/p>\n
This move comes amid nearly five years of extensive restrictions imposed on media activities and journalists in the country. Reports indicate that a number of journalists have been detained and spent nights in prison on charges of violating the Taliban administration’s guidelines, a situation that has raised concerns about freedom of expression and media independence.<\/p>\n
In the Taliban leader\u2019s Eid message, it was also claimed that the administration is ready for political and economic engagement with the world based on Islamic Sharia principles and has fulfilled its responsibilities in this regard. The message emphasized that the rights of all individuals within Taliban-controlled territories are protected and that no one is permitted to commit injustice or violation against others.<\/p>\n
However, in recent days, violent incidents involving armed attackers and bandits have been reported in several provinces, including Kabul.
