The Paktika police command stated that the incident occurred after two of them submerged in the water, and a third young man entered the pond to rescue them but also drowned. According to the police statement, forces from the Argun district police command, together with local residents and bystanders, retrieved the bodies of the victims from the water. Reports indicate that the three young men were originally from Ziruk district of Paktika but currently resided in Argun district. Similar incidents have increased in some districts across the country due to lack of safety measures at water sites and insufficient rescue facilities.
