Local sources in Bamyan province report that the Taliban administration has closed the Baran Health Sciences Institute for the second time and arrested several officials and staff members of this educational center. According to the sources, Taliban intelligence forces raided the institute’s building in central Bamyan on Monday afternoon, detaining several senior officials and sealing the institute’s gates.<\/p>\n
The sources indicate that Nawid Mozaffari, one of the institute\u2019s founders, along with Abdul Haq Shafaq, the administrative manager, and Mohammad Hassan Akbari, the teaching manager, were arrested. Additionally, seven lecturers and Dr. Ali Najafi, the head of the institute, were detained during the operation but were released on bail a few hours later.<\/p>\n
Sources further add that after closing the center, Taliban intelligence officials took pledges from the lecturers and staff to ensure that Dr. Nawid Mozaffari would report to the Intelligence Directorate 08 in Bamyan. According to the same sources, he was arrested upon his arrival in Bamyan on Wednesday morning. To date, there is no clear information about the fate of the other detainees.<\/p>\n
The Baran Health Sciences Institute is one of the private educational centers specializing in health education in Bamyan. This is not the first time the institute has been targeted by the Taliban administration; previously, on June 11, 2024, the institute was closed and its head along with several staff members were arrested.<\/p>\n
