Local officials in Herat have underscored the need to expedite the export of fresh fruit to prevent spoilage and reduce losses for farmers and traders. They emphasized that the export process should proceed without delays through customs and border crossings.<\/p>\n
This issue was addressed in a meeting chaired by Mawlawi Islamjar, the Taliban-appointed governor of Herat, attended by representatives from the Directorate of Industry and Commerce, Customs, the anti-narcotics sector, the Fruit Exporters Union, and several traders. During the meeting, strategies to improve the fresh fruit export process were discussed and reviewed.<\/p>\n
The governor of Herat stressed that responsible agencies must collaborate to remove administrative obstacles and facilitate exports so that agricultural products can cross borders in the shortest possible time. Herat, as one of the key agricultural provinces in western Afghanistan, annually exports a significant portion of fresh fruit to external markets.<\/p>\n
He also proposed that traders utilize the Khaf-Herat railway to transport fresh fruits, which would reduce costs and speed up the transfer of goods. This railway, connecting Herat to Iran\u2019s rail network, is considered one of the crucial cargo transport routes in western Afghanistan.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, the Fruit Exporters Union and traders, while expressing gratitude for the existing export facilities, offered suggestions to resolve ongoing issues.
