American sources have disclosed the creation of a joint security and military fund between the United Arab Emirates and Israel. This development reportedly took place during a secret visit by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to Al Ain, UAE, on March 26 of this year.<\/p>\n
According to Middle East Eye, the fund aims to finance and develop new weapons systems. One source indicated that the cooperation includes joint procurement of defense equipment, and it is likely that the UAE will contribute to financing advanced technologies related to Israel’s air defense systems.<\/p>\n
Reports also state that both parties are focusing on the development and joint purchase of anti-drone systems and other air defense equipment. According to sources, the fund’s agreement was signed during Netanyahu’s visit to the UAE, coinciding with the ongoing war with Iran.<\/p>\n
A former American official told Middle East Eye that significant sums have been allocated to this fund, and the scope of cooperation may expand beyond air defense in the future.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Yoel Guzansky, a researcher at the Institute for National Security Studies in Israel, described the level of relations between the UAE and Israel as unprecedented, saying this is the closest type of collaboration Israel has ever had with an Arab country.<\/p>\n
The researcher believes that establishing a joint weapons fund makes sense for both sides: Israel possesses advanced military technology but requires financial resources, while the UAE has extensive financial capacity and seeks access to advanced military technologies.<\/p>\n
