This was discussed during a meeting between the Chief Executive of Afghanistan’s Electricity Company and Turkmenistan’s Minister of Energy, where both parties emphasized ongoing energy cooperation.

The meeting took place during Abdulhaq Hamkar’s visit to Turkmenistan. Hamkar, the Chief Executive of Afghanistan’s Electricity Company, held talks with Anageldi Saparov, Turkmenistan’s Minister of Energy, about expanding joint cooperation in the electricity sector and accelerating energy infrastructure projects.

According to Hamkar, the 500-kilovolt electricity transmission line project is progressing rapidly and is expected to be completed within a year. This project is considered a major regional initiative aimed at increasing Afghanistan’s electricity transmission capacity and strengthening the national grid.

Currently, Afghanistan imports the majority of its electricity from neighboring countries, with approximately 80 percent of the country’s electricity consumption dependent on imports. This reliance has consistently been a significant challenge for the energy sector in recent years, highlighting the need for sustainable investment in domestic electricity production.

Experts believe that advancing electricity transmission projects, alongside developing internal resources, can help reduce Afghanistan’s vulnerability to regional fluctuations — a responsibility that lies with the Taliban administration and relevant energy sector institutions.

Turkmenistan confirms uninterrupted electricity supply to Afghanistan, emphasizing ongoing energy cooperation and rapid progress on a key transmission line project.

[7,17

post-13280","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-business","category-important-news
["GET
