According to a statement issued on Sunday, May 17, by Hamdullah Fetrat, deputy spokesperson for the administration, the majority of returnees entered the country through the Torkham border crossing.

He stated that from the Torkham crossing alone, 900 families, totaling 4,685 individuals, returned to Afghanistan. In addition, 72 families crossed through the Spin Boldak border in Kandahar province, 42 families through the Nimroz border, and three families via the Islam Qala border in Herat province.

The increase in forced returns comes amid a surge in the expulsion and return of Afghan migrants in recent months. This situation has heightened economic and social pressures on the returning families, especially in border areas and underserved regions, thereby increasing the need for humanitarian aid.

The World Food Programme (WFP) had earlier reported that approximately 500,000 people have returned to Afghanistan since the beginning of this year, highlighting serious concerns about the country’s capacity to absorb and support these returnees.

Taliban reports over 5,300 forced returns to Afghanistan in one day, raising concerns over humanitarian aid needs and support capacity.

[1

post-13185","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-uncategorized
["GET
