Pakistani military sources reported that the incident took place amid a so-called &#8220;clearing&#8221; operation against armed militants.<\/p>\n<p>According to Pakistani officials, seven members of a Baloch separatist group were also killed in the same operation. Balochistan, located in southwestern Pakistan, has witnessed ongoing clashes between government forces and armed opposition groups in recent years.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, a Baloch separatist group claimed in a statement that its fighters attacked a Pakistan Army unit in the Chamalang area of Balochistan, killing eight soldiers, including a senior officer.<\/p>\n<p>Pakistani authorities have not yet commented separately on the separatist group&#8217;s recent claim.
