She stated that deporting individuals without considering Afghanistan’s fragile situation carries serious humanitarian and security consequences.

In an article published in the German newspaper Frankfurter Rundschau, Neumann wrote that the German government, to facilitate deportations, has engaged with the Taliban administration. She believes this approach is more influenced by domestic political pressure and anti-immigrant discourse than by long-term security assessments.

According to the European Parliament member, German officials have focused more on the number, speed, and conditions of deportations, paying insufficient attention to the humanitarian and security impacts of this policy. She emphasized that many returnees to Afghanistan will face widespread poverty, unemployment, lack of basic services, and an uncertain future.

Afghanistan is currently grappling with a severe economic crisis and extensive social restrictions, with a large portion of its population lacking access to fundamental living necessities. Neumann warned that in such conditions, religious networks and madrassas, many operating under Taliban influence, fill the void caused by weak service structures.

She added that the involvement of some returning young people in these networks is driven more by livelihood needs and survival efforts than ideological conviction. According to Neumann, deporting individuals without providing employment, education, and social support effectively exposes them to recruitment by organizations that can reinforce the Taliban’s rule.

The German politician cautiously referred to the experience of some authoritarian regimes, including Iran, stating that such governments sometimes build political loyalty by offering economic and social support to marginalized groups; a model she believes the Taliban administration might also employ.

Neumann stressed that this process affects not only Afghanistan’s domestic situation but could also impact Europe’s security, including Germany’s, in the long term, as extremist networks exploit instability and social despair to recruit members.

In conclusion, she accused the German government of moving toward short-sighted migrant policies under pressure from the far-right party Alternative for Germany (AfD). She argued that migration and security policies must be coordinated and based on Afghanistan’s on-the-ground realities; otherwise, rushed deportations could lead to further instability and strengthen the Taliban administration.

Green Party MP warns that deporting Afghan migrants from Germany risks strengthening the Taliban and increasing security threats in Europe.

[17,6,16

post-12902","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-important-news","category-international","category-secondary-headline
["GET
