The Taliban’s Ministry of Public Health has announced that it and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) have emphasized expanding health services in remote areas and strengthening cooperation in vaccination, maternal and child health, nutrition, and emergency medical services.<\/p>\n
According to a statement from the ministry, Mawlawi Noor Jalal Jalali, acting Minister of Public Health, met in Kabul with Dr. Tajuddin Awaleh, UNICEF\u2019s representative for Afghanistan, and his accompanying delegation. The two sides discussed improving the provision of health services, establishing and developing treatment centers in underserved regions, and jointly monitoring the delivery of health services.<\/p>\n
The Ministry of Public Health quoted Jalali as saying that strengthening the healthcare system is among the Taliban government\u2019s priorities, and efforts continue to provide “equitable and effective” health services across the country. However, limited access to basic health services in many remote districts remains a serious challenge requiring practical and sustainable actions.<\/p>\n
The acting minister also underscored the role of international partners in supporting and developing Afghanistan\u2019s health system and called for ongoing long-term cooperation.<\/p>\n
