Amrullah Saleh, the former vice-president of Afghanistan, has claimed that recent talks between representatives of the Taliban administration and senior Pakistani military officials held in Turkey ended without any results.<\/p>\n
In a post on social media platform X, Saleh stated: “It is said that the negotiations between former members of the Quetta Shura and the command center of Pakistan\u2019s army, which were underway in the Republic of Turkey, have reached a complete deadlock.”<\/p>\n
Using a sarcastic tone, Saleh added that only two people were genuinely pleased with the outcome of these talks\u2014himself and Husain Haqqani, the former Pakistani ambassador to the United States. He also invited others to publicly share their views if they wished.<\/p>\n
Referring to the historical role of the Quetta Shura, Saleh noted that the council once functioned as the central committee of the Taliban based in the Pakistani cities of Quetta and Peshawar, operating with full logistical and strategic support from Pakistan’s military.<\/p>\n
The reported lack of progress in the talks comes amid rising tensions along the Afghanistan\u2013Pakistan border in recent weeks, particularly in the tribal regions. There are growing concerns over the Taliban\u2019s alleged collaboration with extremist groups inside Pakistan.<\/p>\n
