The aim of these meetings was to prepare documentation and coordinate the return of migrants. The media outlet “NDR” has also confirmed the occurrence of such meetings.

In one video report, vehicles carrying Afghan migrants are seen arriving at the migration office in Bonn, followed hours later by a limousine associated with the Afghan representation. According to this media, an individual linked to the Taliban’s consular structure participated in the meeting. It is said these individuals have been recognized as diplomats since 2025 but in practice manage certain Afghan missions in Germany.

In response, Germany’s Ministry of the Interior stated that these contacts occurred within the framework of “Federal Police measures” and were solely technical in nature, not implying recognition of the Taliban administration. German officials declined to provide further details, citing operational confidentiality.

Simultaneously, the deportation process has intensified. Reports indicate that multiple deportation flights to Kabul have been conducted since February 2025. On one flight, 20 Afghan citizens were deported, and in April, 25 more—primarily individuals convicted of various crimes—were sent back. However, there are reports that some single men with no criminal records are also included in the list for deportation.

The German government has described the deportation of criminal migrants as a “key element” of its new migration policy, emphasizing its continuation with “full immunity.” Official statistics show that around 377,000 Afghan citizens live in Germany, with nearly 11,500 listed as required to leave the country.

Internationally, more than 250 human rights organizations have warned against the forced return of Afghans, citing the human rights situation under Taliban rule, especially extensive restrictions on women and minorities. They argue that forced return could expose individuals to arrest, torture, and threats to their lives.

Critics also caution that any coordination with the Taliban administration, even at a technical level, may indirectly legitimize the regime—a government not recognized by the international community and heavily criticized for its human rights record. Conversely, European governments stress that these contacts are purely operational and hold no political significance.

Germany’s secret talks with the Taliban have facilitated Afghan deportations, raising human rights concerns amid rising forced return flights to Kabul.

[17,2,16

post-12220","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-important-news","category-migrant-news","category-secondary-headline
["GET
